Getting a clean house can be a bit of a chore, especially if you don’t live alone, and you have children that tend to make a mess wherever they go. However, the sight of an unclean, untidy house can also be really unnerving.

Make Your Bed
It might seem like a waste of time or something you don’t particularly need, but making the bed could be a significant differentiating factor concerning how clean and tidy a room is. The fact that it only takes a few minutes also means that you won’t have much of a problem with it.
Everyone loves seeing and climbing a made bed, and the sight of one provides that encouragement you need to keep going.
To make things easier for yourself, try to simplify your bed as much as possible. Don’t have too many things on top of it, and instead of having up to three sheets, you could get a duvet to simplify things. If you love having top sheets, then you could perhaps look into reducing the number of pillows that your bed holds or using a duvet that’s so large, you don’t need to tuck your sheets into the bed every time.
One Laundry Load Per Day
You might not need to do this literally every day, although that will also depend on how many loads of laundry you do in a week. However, if you go through about four or more loads per week, then you should try getting into the habit of putting at least one load of laundry whenever you wake up.
If you work far from home, and you need to leave before you get the chance to dry, then put your washing machine on “Delay.” This way, your clothes will be ready to get into the dryer whenever you get home.
Or, you could also put the load in the machine in the morning and turn it on when you get home at night. You need to save some time during the day to complete the task.
Prioritize Your Tasks
Like humans, cleaning isn’t always the same. In the long-run, some tasks take priority over others. So, make a list of everything you need to get done and split them – some of these things need to get done now, while others will have to wait perhaps a day or two.
Given how long you have to yourself, take two achievable tasks, and get them done. Make sure you stick to them, then if you’ve got the additional time, you can work towards achieving any others on the list.
Get Help From Everyone
If you live alone, then the task of cleaning and tidying up everywhere will be on you alone. Of course, people who stay alone don’t have that much in terms of dirty clothes or untidy stuff, so you don’t have much of a problem.
However, if you have a family, then you could always get everyone involved to make tasks faster and more effectively done. Doing the job yourself might seem like the easier thing to do because of how you like to see things done, but there’s no point in not utilizing the additional hands you have at your disposal.
You could also start small – let your kids pick up coats and everything alien from the floor, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, cleaning their room, and doing other things that they can handle for their age. When you incorporate help from everyone, it’s incredible how much you can get done. You free up time, and you get to teach the kids themselves a thing or two about cleanliness.
Make it Normal to Clean at Night
No one ever said that cleaning your house always had to be done in the daytime. Every night, even if for 15 to 30 minutes, try to do a quick clean-up of the entire space.
It doesn’t need to be so difficult. Just clean up where everyone might have disrupted, pick things from the floor, and ensure that things are where they should be.
Remember your priorities and stick to the essential things if you have too much to do. Since it’s at night, however, you could start with the biggest things that are creating the most clutter and get to those before you go to bed.
