If you have moving homes or have decided to revamp your bedroom design, then you might have an idea of how you want to arrange your furniture. Often arranging furniture can be confusing and overwhelming- so it’s best to keep a few pointers in mind to help you do your job best.

Here are a few tips on how to optimally arrange furniture in your bedroom –

Keep it essential

We tend to get lost in how much stuff we actually need in our bedroom. You might want an extra dressing table, or that big screen television, or even an added lamp that has no place. But don’t make this mistake- you might end up cramming up a lot of unnecessary things in the bedroom and make it look like a mess; especially if you have a bedroom that is smaller in size. Keep only the absolute essentials. When it comes to bedroom design, it’s best to have it minimal.

Choose functionality

When you want to arrange your bedroom furniture, you need to start thinking about functionality. Of course the aesthetics matter and you may want some designer bedroom furniture, but making it a fully working and functioning room is as important, if not more. Think about what is the most important to you in your bedroom – if you like laying in bed and watching television, and you own a small-screen TV to complement your room, then arrange the other furniture around this. If your priority is to have lots of walking space in the room, then you need to arrange it ccordingly.

Have a design layout

If you are planning to arrange or rearrange your furniture, you first 0need to have a bedroom interior design layout in mind. Don’t just start arranging the furniture haphazardly without a plan; it is a sure way to spell disaster and will waste a lot of time and effort. Think of a bedroom design layout in your head and then actually sketch it out on a piece of paper. It is much simpler and easier to do it this way.

Begin with the bed

The smartest thing to do when arranging the bedroom furniture is to start out with the bed and make it the focal point. Your bed (in most cases) will occupy the biggest portion in the room, so it makes sense to first start with arranging and getting the bed in order, and then moving on to the rest of the furniture. Usually the bed goes opposite the door and against the wall, or against the largest wall without a window- but you choose where you wish to put your bed. If you have a smaller bedroom, then you may have to find a place to put the bed which doesn’t block much space and makes sense from a design perspective.

Try to experiment

While there are lots of pointers on how to arrange your bedroom furniture and how not to, at the end of the day it is your personal preference. Don’t be afraid to try out different things and experiment a bit with your furniture. There are many ways to arrange your furniture; there is no right or wrong way to do so. Try putting your area rug differently, get home some designer bedroom furniture, or shift the focal point from perhaps the television to a piece of art. You may actually end up pleasantly surprising yourself!
