The course of Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is a medical coding course conducted by AAPC which trains interested individuals in all aspects of medical coding and billing and provides a certificate upon completion.
The need for professional medical coders and billers is immense right now, and it will only keep growing. The healthcare sector is not an industry that will lose its importance or significance overtime, but will only spread and extend to further branches. According to industry data, offshore health industry is growing at a rate of 23-35% every year.
Accurate coding and billing is a very important part of the whole administrative procedure of the healthcare industry. The medical institutes want to make sure that the compensations of their medical practitioners, doctors and surgeons are in the safe hands of an experienced medical billing and coding professional, which is why more and more places are seeking to hire one.
But at present most medical facilities in India are understaffed when it comes to well-trained, certified medical coders and billers. As a result, the balance in the mutual relationship between medical institutes and insurance companies take a hit, and the patient party suffers as well.
While becoming a medical coder does not mandatorily requires a degree, most places prefer personnel who have done a medical coding course and acquired a certificate.
